I started teaching in 2001 and taught in the same building for nearly fifteen years.  When I first started teaching, I took attendance on paper, grades were calculated by hand, progress reports were printed, papers were copied, students passed notes and needed to borrow pencils.  Today, attendance is done by computer, grades are calculated by computer, progress reports are available by phone app, any papers are shared online for collaboration, students text or snap notes . . . and STILL ask to borrow pencils.  I hope to relieve students of the massive pencil debt they find themselves in as they near graduation.

Outside of teaching, I have written lessons for Education-Portal.   I currently serve as an Instructional Manager with Michigan Virtual University, where I taught online full-time for a year and a half.  The online students never borrowed pencils.
